June 23 Lost in ConspiraciesWhy is everyone so bent on conspiracy theories? Between The Da Vinci Code, JFK, Kurt Cobain it’s enough to make someone be an conspirator themselves.
How many of us have actually researched the facts surrounding these conspiracies? For example how many of us have actually read a Gnostic gospel? Or the Kennedy papers? Have you heard the Grant interview? Then maybe you shouldn't be so quick to jump on someone else's bandwagon.
As much as I’d like to think the general public understands the importance of education before claim it seems this art is inherently lost to the general masses. Instead, in our quest for lazy indulgence we celebrate the fantastic obscure and feast on hearsay. May the grapevine reign supreme while we slay the tedious monster ‘Scrutiny’.
Or could it just be that we have lost to science those great cultural mysteries that tie people together? Thanks to sonar, we no longer have the speculation that keeps Loch Ness a dream in Urquhart Bay. And due to carbon-dating, we no longer believe Elvis was abducted – oh, wait a minute. Maybe these charades of secrets help us laugh and cope with the harsh reality of a tumultuous world.
Until I figure it out, I will continue to watch the cryptic show Lost where every action on that island seems like someone else's conspiracy (don’t worry I’m not going to do recaps like I did for 24 . . . yet). Comments (1)
