July 03 More then Meets the Eye!Finally, the day I have been waiting for since August 8, 1986 - the release of new Transformers movie - has arrived! Not since i came home with the betamax version of the 1986 classic and slid it into my parent's betamax player have i been so utterly stoked.
All you loyal readers out there should see my office setup. My office transformer digs:
Sadly, before they announced the big movie, i donated all my old tubberware buckets of loose leaf robots to my sister's co-worker. You've got to keep the circle of life going. Better to give, eh? What I'm looking forward to the most: Seeing the movie with my Transformer-crazy niece, who can't wait to see the flick herself and called me yesterday from her mom's cell to talk about it. She's a bit hard core - at age three her favorite movies were the Jurassic Park Series - she thought they were comedies. I tell you she's got nerves of steel. The hype: So far the hype has been pretty good - 4.7 out of 5 on Fandango - and "Go See It" status. And my co-worker forwarded an email saying, and i quote, "Pee before you see... cuz you will not want to get up once the movie starts." Sounds like they may have got this one right! May 23 Veronica Mars! Over!?So i just got a phone call from one of my fellow Veronica Mars comrades. She was weeping in pain and tragedy. Apparently they not only ended the Veronica Mars television series but ended it on a horrifically sad note.
All of you out there who value good television please, do you civic duty and click this link to see how you can SAVE Veronica:
![]() Yeah, and she's hot too! May 14 The Death of PenguinsSome of you may have heard of my utter disdain for the overly animated little bird known as the "penguin". In fact, over last few years we have nothing but penguins plaguing the big screen. Over and over, penguins at the zoo, penguins learning to dance, penguins wanting to surf! argh! It's enough to drive a well-mannered man insane.
Or it just may make him want to go hunting. This one's for the work mates. Check out this Great Penguin Game! My best score is 71!
It may just be about time to change my messenger graphic again. I've included it below - ah, the wonders of photoshop. February 01 Hello, Ms. LeviI learned earlier this week that my hottie's old time fav. movie happens to be 1969's Best Pic "Hello, Dolly" and thought it'd be a nice treat to snag a DVD copy for her since we unloaded the old VHS copy last year without a second glance as part of our apartment cleansing. I said farewell to a handful of old made-for-tv movies and she quickly made short work of them at Half-Price Books. All that to say that the movie was a pretty witty mix of good humor and quick dialogue around a healthy plot (which you are seeing less and less of these days). For that i must give credit to my lovely wife for introducing this well rounded flick. If you are, however, annoyed by song and dance, i say steer clear of this one - as it's a musical - but if you dig more epic style classics - the likes of Gone with the Wind and Ten Commandments. I'd give this Dolly a whirl. December 21 Transform Yourself - 7/24/7Check out the new Transformers Trailer! You get a chance to see a glimpse of Optimus, Bumblebee (looks like a mustang), and few raunchy decepticons merciliessly killing humans.
Oh yeah, don't forget little-miss-hottie and mister-mchotterton teenage love story sub-plot. So far, i think we have avoided a tv-to-movie meltdown. Then again, only time will tell.
August 31 Recent DevelopmentSo it looks like Season 3 of Arrested Development has finally come out on DVD! Just wanted to do my part as a loyal fan to take a few seconds to blog about one of the funniest shows i have ever watched.
. . . . .
thanks (those were my few seconds) :-)
June 23 Lost in ConspiraciesWhy is everyone so bent on conspiracy theories? Between The Da Vinci Code, JFK, Kurt Cobain it’s enough to make someone be an conspirator themselves.
How many of us have actually researched the facts surrounding these conspiracies? For example how many of us have actually read a Gnostic gospel? Or the Kennedy papers? Have you heard the Grant interview? Then maybe you shouldn't be so quick to jump on someone else's bandwagon.
As much as I’d like to think the general public understands the importance of education before claim it seems this art is inherently lost to the general masses. Instead, in our quest for lazy indulgence we celebrate the fantastic obscure and feast on hearsay. May the grapevine reign supreme while we slay the tedious monster ‘Scrutiny’.
Or could it just be that we have lost to science those great cultural mysteries that tie people together? Thanks to sonar, we no longer have the speculation that keeps Loch Ness a dream in Urquhart Bay. And due to carbon-dating, we no longer believe Elvis was abducted – oh, wait a minute. Maybe these charades of secrets help us laugh and cope with the harsh reality of a tumultuous world.
Until I figure it out, I will continue to watch the cryptic show Lost where every action on that island seems like someone else's conspiracy (don’t worry I’m not going to do recaps like I did for 24 . . . yet). April 03 Right on, Target!Okay, it happened. I caved. All you gamers rejoice and celebrate. All my co-workers down the hall raise your glasses for soon i plan to join you - wireless controller in hand, eyes dilated from the endless hours of achievement-addicted gaming.
It happened yesterday like a theif in the night. As my hottie and i were picking up a reception gift at Target for some friends of ours a subtle thought came into the recesses of my mind. Why not register? What's the harm? People register for gaming consoles all the time, especially for weddings. It really is the perfect time to.
Pretty soon i was smirking at my own bride-to-be. And it didn't take long . . . well, actually it did take awhile to figure out Target's registering system . . . . but you get the point. I did it; I caved.
Although there wasn't an actual 360 at Target to scan (should i be worried?) we were able register for gift cards, which i vow to use for the sole purpose of gaming. Well, gaming or tube socks and top ramen. March 09 Let the Sons & Daughters ShineMe and my beau (see pics to the left) watched the newly acclaimed Sons & Daughters Tuesday night at the request my friendly co-worker. Props to Kaila because the show is pretty funny.
Be careful, though, if you expect completed scenes and a nicely wrapped up plot at the end, you'll be dissapointed. What drives this sit-com isn't the nice warm and fuzzy feeling you get with the resolution type ending you get from show's like Full House, but more the inpromtu acting and embarrassinly candid look at real family life these days.
Fav scenes:
February 19 More then meets the Eye!So i hear there is a new Transformers movie coming out this spring. Let me be the first to say that i have high expectations since the first one debuted in 1980 (which sits on my DVD rack between two large posters of Optimus Prime and Megatron).
Favorite character: Obviously Rodimus Prime!
Who is that? You ask. Exactlly. Go back to the OC and watch Marissa continue to mess up her life and the small, shallow group of posers around her.
Bottom line: Rent the movie, listen to the cool 80's rock, pretend like you knew how cool swearing was in a cartoon (in the 80's) for the first time. Repeat.
See you at the premier. |
